Wicking in Missouri from Prussia?
Hello,
I am seeking information on Henry Wicking who fought in the Civil War. 1st USRC Company K Missouri Infantry (Union). I believe he had a son named Henry Otto Wicking who lived with and eventually took the name Bowler (Bohler)a family that immigrated to Missouri from Prussia. Henry Otto Wicking is listed on the 1860 census for Chariton Co MO living with Mrs Eliz. Bowler 44 from Prussia as Henry O Wicking born in Missouri age 9. He is also found on the 1870 census for chariton Co MO living with Laura Bohler age 54 from Prussia as HenryWicking from Missouri age 20. It is very unlikely that Henry at age ten joined the Civil War. My guess is that the Bohlers and the Wickings were related somwhow. I notice that the two locations that you find the surname Wicking is in England and in Prussia. Can anyone help?
Thank you.
William Hutchinson
