After reading the book I told you about, it appears that his wife was sick a lot and couldn't stay in Alaska during the winter. She must have been a wonderful woman to stay married to him after his other woman scandal (which is documented in the book). Thanks for telling me about the diaries--I have been to that website and looked at the photos but I didn't see that I could read the diaries. I think the book I told you about is based on the diaries and newpaper articles. You probably won't get much more information from the book. You would think he would have mentioned exactly where she was in the diaries. I think she visited her son a lot.
