OWEN WICKENS - I have seen this name before and may have a clue to his identity.
My Olive Wickens, born 1850, was the youngest of three children. All three were born in Washington Co. Ohio and moved to Christian Co. ILLINOIS about 1860.Olive's older sister, Mary, married Oscar OWEN (origins unknown). They had a brother James Wickens of whom I know nearly nothing.James and Mary being older than Olive would have been born in the 1840s.
Illinois is a common factor, and Wickens is a fairly un-common name.It was not unusual to name children after family and close family friends. It is possible that James could have had a son named "OWEN." Being born in the 1840s makes James a possible candidate for your Irene's grandfather.
There may be enough 'possibles' here to make it worth investigating.Perhaps this will be of some help to you.
