Hello Gerry,
I am not sure if we have communicated before in the past - your name seems vaguely familiar.Since you mother was a Wickens and you are descended from William and Mary Cuckney of Cobham your line must come from one of the sons - but which one?My husband is descended from John who was a gamekeeper in Godmersham where he came to an untimely end as a result of an accident when his family were still very young.I am intrigued that you have got back to a Richard Cuckney born 1722 - my earliest is Christopher who was married in Wiston to Sarah Bennett on 19th October 1749 and these are the parents of Richard born 1764.What do you have?I would also love to know if you have anything I don't have on the Meopham and Cobham descendants.I suppose its too much to hope that you have discovered more about John married to Martha.I haven't been able to find his birth though I do have his death certificate on 18th February 1848 (inconvenient of him to die before the 1851 census which would have told us where he was born)and details of his second marriage to Elizabeth Young in Wrotham on 20th October 1833.Let's share what we have and fill in some of the gaps.Best wishes, Olive
