The Wick name comes from many European countries, England, Scottland, France, Norway, Sweden, and Germany. My thought is that it probably originated in Scandinavia from the word Vik or Viek (a living place or valley at the end of a Fiord)and spread with the Norse forays into North Europe. It seems that many Wicks in Ohio came from England but also many came from Germany, especially the Marburg area of Hesse and several lived in the Dayton area.
