Samuel Ryan-Menasha-mid/late1800's

Does anybody have any information on Col. Samuel Ryan who came to Menasha (Winnebago Co.) about 1852 from Green Bay and died there in 1876? Specifically, I am searching for information on his daughter Martha. I believe she is the "Martha Ryan" who married David Cheney in Milwaukee in 1842, but I cannot yet prove it. His obit and several local biographies don't provide any insights. Any info is greatly appreciated.
