My Grandfather (Edward Mitchell) (probably changed it upon arrival) indicated his parents came from Germany, Don't know Edwards parents or siblings names but he also indicated they lived in Oshkosh. He said he was born in Racine in 1866 but haven't located bc yet. Could you check and see if someone changed their name to Mitchell in your surname list of 300 families.
