Hi Gloria,
Looks like you found The WWI Reg. for George saying he had been b. in Dover, NH. In 1920, George and Hilda were living with Hilda's parents in Waukesha. They only listed son, Clifford. Eugene wasn't listed, maybe he was b. later in the year?. Georges brother, Roscoe was also living with them.
From the limited supply of old newspapers, looks like George got into local politics in the late 40's and into the 50's.Newspapers stop at 1955 (Ancestry used to have more)The family was very active in Waukesha Bible Church. If it is still around, they might have some good records for you.
Eleanor married Harry George Jr. in Feb 1947.
Going back in census. I think I've found George parents in 1900.New Hampshire, Strafford, Dover
Frank Brooks, 48, b. Jun 1851, NH, ME, NH, shoemaker
Gertrude, 31, Jan 1869, ME, NH, ME mar.8yrs, 3 children
George H. 6, b. Jul 1893 NH
Eddie, 4, Feb 1896, NH
Roscoe, 1, Nov 1898, NH
In 1910, Looks like family was in hard times. George is the only son with Frank and Gertrude living in a boarding house.
Can't find Eddie, Roscoe is boarding with a Blaisdell family.
1880 Strafford Co, Farmington?
Frank is married to Ida, son, Harry age 1. (found Harry in 1900 married to Olive, house painter. think I found him in 1910 in NJ. says mar. but no wife with him. Lost trail after that)
(1880 They are living next door to Blaisdell family)
1870 Possible parents for Frank (Franklin). Samuel and Sarah.
sister, Harriet and younger brother Samuel
same in 1860.
Hope this gives you some clues to work with... Good Luck
Judy
