In Waukesha they dropped the "D".

The 1858 Waukesha City Directory
Caspar John, cabinet maker, Main ab Mill, h same
In the margin there is a handwritten note "Gaspar, John - not Caspar".
In the business section of this Directory John is listed under Cabinet Maker, Furniture Dealer, and Undertaker.

The Waukesha County Gazetteer 1890-91.
City of Waukesha
Gaspar Charles, furniture and undertaking, 119 Main, r 150 Main.
Gaspar Frederick A, cabinermkr Chas Gaspar, r 17 Barnard.
Gaspar John, r 139 Main.
Gaspar John L. Gaspar & Le Clear, r 18 1/2 West Park av.
Gaspar & Le Clear (John L Gaspar and Nathaniel H. Le Clear), hardware, stoves and coal, 92 Main.

This family must have had an impact on the city, there is a street named for them. Gaspar runs north and south for two blocks, between W. Main and South St. in downtown Waukesha.
