The Lauderdale family

I am researching The Lauderdale Family of Walworth County, Wisconin. I am trying to connect those Lauderdale's to The Earls of Lauderdale from Scotland. I have gone so far as the early 1800's when John Lauderdale settled in New York with his family. I know of nine generations from him leading to The Midwestern States of Missouri, Minnesota, Ohio, Iowa, and Wisconsin. My 3-Great Grandfather was James Lauderdale who, along with James Stewart, purchased much of the land within LaGrange Township and surrounding Lauderdale Lakes from The Government for $1.25 per acre in 1841.

Is anyone else researching this same subject? Perhaps we can share information.

"The LaGrange Pioneers" book, published by LaGrange Ladies' Aid Society in 1935 has a good deal of the early pioneer life in Walworth County and would be worthy of your pursuit if you are researching Walworth County.
