Alma Chosa Tilden was my mother's double cousin. Her father, Leo Chosa, was the brother of my mother's father, Henry Chosa. Her mother, Annie DuFault Chosa, was the sister of my mother's mother, Clara DuFault Chosa. Leo owned a resort called Prairie Portage on Basswood Lake in what is now the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, but when Alma and her family was growing up, they lived out at Chosa Point on the same lake, where there were 3 cabins, one for the 2 Chosa families and one for Annie's and Clara's mother. Alma had a number of siblings, some of whom are still alive, and was very close to my mother who is also still alive. To get hard data I think you'd have to contact the Bois Forte reservation since the county did not record vitals on Indians not living in town. Leo's and Annie's death certificates, however, are on file with St. Louis County. Contact me and I'll be glad to give you all the hard facts and family lore I have on these 2 families.
