Johannes & Gertrude (Follert) Merget & family
Posted by: Julie Wierschke (ID *****7699) Date: August 28, 2011 at 07:20:36

Since posting my last query regarding Adam and Kathrine Merget, I've found out that Adam was my Great-Great-Grandfather's brother.

I am now looking for additional info on Johannes Martin & Gertrude Merget. I believe Gertrude's maiden name was Follert, but can find nothing anywhere on that name. I believe they came from Klein Krotzenburg, Hesse Darmstadt, Germany and were probably also married there Feb. 25, 1851.

Johannes was born April 22, 1819 and probably died about 1880. He may be buried at St. Rose's, Lima, Sheboygan Co. WI.
Gertrude was born in 1826, died Aug. 14, 1895 and is probably buried at St. Rose's also.

They had 4 sons:
*Adam b. Aug 1852, Lima
*Mathias b. Apr 2, 1857, d. Dec 30, 1923, Plymouth, WI (married to Barbara Cora Holzschuh, Feb 19 1884, Lima. We have some more info on her and their family.)
*Adolph E. (my Great-Grandfather) b. May 24, 1862, Lima, d. Aug 11, 1936, married June 17, 1889 Johanna Henrietta Koene, b. Apr 5, 1866, d. Jan 8 1938. Both buried at St.Mary's Sheboygan Falls, WI
*John S., b. Dec 22, 1866, d. June 5, 1931, Milwaukee, WI, buried Calvary Cemetary
*Margaret Merget, b. 1867, Sheboygan Falls, d. before 1887

I realize I have quite a bit of info, but just wondering if anyone has anything else. We found a book on Merget's (and a number of other families) that was extremely helpful.

Thank you,
Julie
