Is there anyway you can check to see if you have anything on the marriage of Luzena (Bates) Powell to a man by the name of Asa Wood.she is the widow of John Powell I am unsure IF he is the oldest son of Susannah (the mother) Powell or if Andrew is.anyway John her son is killed in the civil war at Vicksburg he has a child with Luzena his wife he is in the Co. C 20th inf. from Boscobel.he leaves a will stating that she gets all & she apparently continues the land battle with Asa Wood.this is over the fact that apparently Asa's wife Ann Wood, I have no maiden name for her, was going to divorce Asa & sold John Powell this land they owned in (I think) Blue River. since this went on for some time you may be able to find it in the files of the Boscobel times & the Bad Axe newspapers.then in 1864 he dies in Vicksburg. during this battle for the property Luzena then marries Asa Wood & she now has her mother in laws property, Susannah Powell, her own property, left her by John,& now she has Asa woods property & is his wife too.they have two sons that apperantly die young one by drowning & I forget the other. you canfind thisout too. I have all this somewhere, but now this Andrew Powell, I cannot find a trace of him annywhere after the 1850 census.it seems he married some one named Maria & went to Ne. so maybe we might have a connection. it would be wonderful as this Powellhas vexed me for years.....sincerely Jo Ann Loghry.......
