Susan: I grew up in Pierce County, WI and spent many a summer de-tasseling corn for the Jacques Seed Corn Co. At that time (1940s), the company was headquartered in Prescott, WI, not Ellswworth. The Jacques family was certainly dominant in Prescott and quite prominent in Pierce County. Prescott is perhaps 12 miles or so directly west of Ellsworth, so it may be that the people you seek were Ellsworth residents. But the company was Prescott-based, as far as I know, and the Jacques family lived in or near to Prescott. -- rhf
