I simply could not believe this: all of our immigrant families for Ozaukee County are listed as Dutch immigrants! I saw so many Luxembourger names that I simply could not believe this Family Tree Maker CD: "#269: Immigration Records: Dutch in America, 1800's". Off the top of my hat here: Mallinger (actually from Remerschen, Grand Duchy, Lux), Prom (From Belgic Lux.), Reef/Reif, Ernst, Schilz, Groen/Grun/Green (actually from Mondorf, Lux.) and so very many more who were listed as living in the Town of Belgium, Port Washington, Fredonia, etc., in Ozaukee County, WI! If you have this CD, go to search and just plug in the word: "ozaukee" and see what comes up. YA KNOW WHAT FAMILY TREE MAKER PEOPLE DID? THEY TOOK NAMES OF PEOPLE WHO EITHER USED ANTWERP FOR A PORT, OR ELSE THEY EQUATED EVERYONE JUST SOUTH OF CEDAR GROVE, SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, ETC. However, there ARE many bonafide Dutch on here, too. Also note: they may also have based their data on the fact that a spouse might have been born on Dutch lands, but even some of those I question--to me it looks as if some old errors just keep getting passed along????
