Pierre Letourneau/Domatilde Beaudoin/Lucie Sorel
I know I'm going to get a lot of heat about this, but I don't think that the Pierre Letourneau who married Domatilde Beaudoin was the same one that married Lucie Sorel.
The Pierre Letourneau who married Domatilde Beaudoin was bapt. 14 Dec 1817 at St. Constant, Laprairie, Quebec. He was the son of Pierre Letourneau and Ursule Dupuis. He married Domatilde on 14 Sep 1840 at St. Constant. They had the following children:
1.Philomene - bapt. 24 Jul 1841 at St. Constant.Married Gedeon Houle on 6 Jul 1858 at St. Constant.
2. Pierre Salome - bapt. Jan 1843; d. 30 Nov 1843- St. Constant.
3. Mathilde, bapt. 1 Nov. 1845 at St. Constant
4. Cajetan, bapt. 28 Mar 1847 at St. Constant.Married Lumina Viau in 1872 at St. Constant
5. William Joseph, bapt. abt Jun 1848.
6.Marie,, bapt. abt 1849.Married Jean Baptiste St. Denis on 2 Oct 1871 at St. Constant.
7. Frederic George, bapt. 10 Apr 1851 at St. Constant.Married Hosanna "Dolly" Latremauille abt 1873.Died in Feb 1937 at St. Eustache, Manitoba.
8. Domina, bapt. 20 Jun 1853 at St. Constant.Married Azilda Viau on 9 Apt 1877 at St. Constant
9.Oliver, bapt. 9 Jun 1859 at St. Constant
10. Elise, bapt. 25 Oct 1861 at St. Constant
11. Simeon, bapt. 5 Apr 1864 at St. Constant
This family appears in the 1851 and 1861 Canadian census in St. Constant. In 1891 and 1901 Pierre is listed in Manitoba, living with his son, Frederic. He died 16 Dec 1905 in Manitoba. This could not have been the same Pierre who married Lucie Sorel because the records on this one are too good. The other Pierre and Lucie had their children between 1840 and 1859.
The OTHER Pierre Letourneau, who was married to Lucie Sorel, shows up in the 1850 and 1860 census in Milford, Wisconsin. He bought some land in Fond du Lac, according to the U.S. General Land Office Records, 1796-1907 on Ancestry.com. He also appears in the 1855 WI state census in Milford. In 1870 he and his family moved to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He must have died before 1880 because in the 1880 Fond du Lac census, Lucie is listed as a widow.Pierre and Lucie had all their children between 1840 and 1860.I'm thinking that this Pierre MAY be the brother of Christophe Letourneau, who appears in Fond du Lac in the 1870 and 1880 census.Christophe was the son of Amable Letourneau and Elisabeth Bissonnette.Amable and Elisabeth did have a son named Pierre, who was baptized on 27 Nov. 1810 at St. Marguerite de Blairfindie, L'Acadie, St. Jean, Quebec and I think this may be him.
Any thoughts?
