Hi Val,
I am not related. Just like to help when I can.

Since your people were married in 1914, the main source I checked was the WWI draft registration.

The only John Vernon Cox found was in Vermillion Co., Indiana. His wife was Maggie, also b. in Indiana.

By 1930 census, Still il Vermillion Co, Clinton/Fairview Park.
John Cox, 42, mar at age 26, b. Ind
Maggie, 36, mar @ 20, b. Ind
Robert (listed as Charles on 1920), 13, b. Ind
Marie, 11
Vernon, 7,
Alice, 4yr 11mo, b. Ind
