Hi - I'm not related, just trying to help. In the 1900 Crawford Co. KS census, Ida M. Smith, b. Feb. 1862, age 38, lists her father as b. KY and her mother as b. Wisc. Look at this census: 1860 Lafayette Co. Wisc., Gratist: Edward Norris, age 30 b. KY Calthae, 23 b. Wisc. Mary, 5 George, 3 John, 3 months Wisc. marriages pre-1907: Edward Norris married Caltha McKnighs on 28 Feb. 1852 in Lafayette Co., Wisc., Vol. 01, pg. 0141 In 1870, Edward Norris is in Knox Co., MO, Salt River twp: Edward Norris, 42 Emily, 32 Mary, 14 (5 in 1860 census) George, 12 (3 in 1860 census) John, 10 (3 months in 1860 census) Walter Applegate, 12 Samuel Applegate,10 IDA NORRIS, 8 **************** Lydia Norris, 2 .........all the children are shown b. MO; it looks like Caltha died and Edward re-married Emily Applegate c. 1867 since the 1900 census for Edward and Emily Norris in Crawford Co., KS show them married 33 years. In 1880, Edward Norris is in Labette Co. KS; in 1900 in Crawford Co., KS - if you would like details of these census I'll be glad to send them. The above information coincides with information posted on World Connect Family trees, although there isn't anything posted there on Edward's first marriage. Hope some of this helps in your research.
