I am a direct descendant of the Wildes from Stettin, Pomerania, Prussia. My g-grandmother, Ulricke Fredricka Charlotta Wilde, emigrated in 1854 when she was 18. (She was born July 4, 1836 in Coplin by Giltso. I'm sure this is misspelled. Either it is in Prussia or they moved there later. ) She came with her brother August Wilde, who according to famiy historian, was four years youngwe than Ulriche, making him 14 years old when he came. Thus if this is correct, his birth date would have been 1830. Of course it could be approximate. I found dozens of August Wildes in Wisconsin, specifically at Stettin, WI, County of Marthon. Actually, so many of the 1860 & 1870 census names were from Prussia. I've read that Ulricka's father's name was Charles which I presume actually was Karl in Prussia. There are also Charles Wildes in these census logs. Ulricka also named children Charles, & one, my grandfather was "Theodore Peter August Hayes". Ulricka married a John Henry Hayes, born in new york of Scots father & Irish Mother --they married in 1859 & settled in Kirkwood, MO (German sec. of St. Louis) where almost all of their at least nine children were born. Other names of her children are John Edward, Bertram Lachial, Drussila Henryetta, etc. & names containing Samuel & Joseph. Ulricka & John Hayes are on the 1900 & 1910 Fed. census--by 1910 they had moved to a farm they bought in Chanute KS. Ulricka at age 18 came with her brother August and supposedly another brother so they would not go in the Kiser's army in a war in which they didn't believe. Does anyone know of an August Wilde out there? Ulricka & August were separated by accident after coming to America, later reunited. I have absolute proof that at least one brother came with her & his name was August. (Also, in Pomerania they were dairy farmers.) There were so many Wildes in and around Stettin Wisconsin in the 1860, 1870, etc. census listings that I thought thwse immigrants from Prussia were mostly from Stettin, like the Wildes. Are any Wildes still in Stettin? Thank you for any clues.
