Prairie du Chein

I have been reviewing newspapers from 1901-1904 and have found several references to Prairie du Chein in the columns devoted to "guests, visits, trips". "So and so has returned from a week's stay in Prairie du Chein." In looking at a map of the area, there is a Medical Museum listed. Did that city have a hospital for consultations or medical treatment that may not have been available in small towns of the time? I might add that both references were to men who were in their seventies.
