In my line is a Ferdinand SEGLER (without your 'i'), who was born in 1852 in Germany, came to America on the "Main" in 1886. On one of the federal censuses, his "where from?" was answered as "Wisconsin". Of course he may have spent some time there, but I am positive that he was born in the Berlin, Brandenburg area of Germany, but yet to be confirmed.
He supposedly married an Auguste -?- (Unknown maiden name.) who died in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1890 (source from cemetery records was researched, but not confirmed as of this date.) After that he married a Pauline GEHRKE SUCHANTKE, a widow who attended the same church, Salem Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota in 1890. Recorded in those church records, and also in the marriage records of Ramsey County.
I am trying to find the rest of his family, and Joyce mentioned a Gustave SIEGLER marrying a Hattie Heldwig DOGE of D"OEDT from Berlin, Germany. However, this is 18 years after Ferdinand, so this may not be a relative.
If you have any information which may fit, I'd be happy to exchange my records. Hoping to be of help, happy searching.
