Carl August Wolff was born in Germany in 1843 and married Wilhelmina
Hoffmann about 1872.Carl emigrated to America about 1882, settling in Pullman. IL where he worked as cabinet maker.In 1883 his wife and five children came to America on the ship Hohenstaufen out of Bremen, Germany.They arrived in Baltimore, MD on June 3, 1883. (List or Manifest of ALL THE PASSENGERS taken on board the North German Steamer "Hohenstaufen" whereof Ferdinand Heinbeck is Master, from Bremen burthen 1905 tons., carried about 1500 passengers).One can speculate that they traveled from Baltimore to Pullman via train to Chicago.About 1886 they moved to Marathon County, WI where they settled on a farm at Weston (West town) near the present town of Schofield.
