Hello Terence,
Steve Downey called me this morning. He thinks you have made a POWERS family match. That's good! He told me you were from the Powers/Christopher family of Lafayette Co. I think I'm related to that Christopher family who originated in Old Parish, Co. Waterford which is in rural Ardmore area. I would be happy to give you the details.

You told me you think your Kiely family was from Limerick. It would be hard for us to make a family match on that name since my Kiely name was from Waterford also, near the same area as Christopher name. Oldest known descendant was Lawrence Kiely, born early 1800s whose wife was Mary. They had at least two children: Johanna and Patrick Kiely. I think there were more but I can't prove. The two children and the mother, Mary Kiely were in Lafayette Co. Johanna married Bartholomew FITZGERALD, of Ring area, Co. Waterford, not far from Old Parish.

I think we have a better chance to connect on the Christopher name. You can email me directly at

Mary O'Connor
