PRIDEAUXs in Mineral Point
Posted by: RICHARD ROBERTS (ID *****5727) Date: December 21, 2003 at 18:09:59

Can anyone help me with more info or links to other Prideauxs please?

William Stephen Prideaux
8 May 1874 (some census say 1880, but he lied about his age)
Mineral Point, Iowa Co., WI
died 9 or 11 Nov 1946 in Racine, WI

His Parents: William Prideaux
1845/47 England
died cr. 1875 when his last child was born
married on 8 Jun 1872 in Iowa Co., WI
Mary Miller
Mar 1851 WI
I can find her on 1910 census, but not 1920. She must have died between those years?
Her parents were from Hesse Darmstadt (Germany)

My grandfather was a very secretive man. When I was a child a woman named Ruth Campbell came to visit my family. She said some very hostile things about my Grandmother. (Both were dead by then)She was supposed to be William's sister, but I think she may have been an ex-wife. And she beat it out of the house before my Dad, who was supposed to be her nephew, came home from work.
William married Winifred Edwards when he was 38. He had lived all over the US & Canada by then. I found a record of a William E Prideaux married to a Ruth Campbell in Nebraska. I have sent for a copy of the certificate too see.
