Looking for more information on this family, which can be found in the 1860-1880 census Platteville Grant Co WI census, with descendants living in Platteville until at least 1920.
JOHN RICKARD b abt 1811 Cornwall England, m JANE TRESIZE who died 1889 Platteville Grant Co WI (maiden name as per Genuki website); in census 1860-1880; Land record 1854 John Rickardt; children as per census were:
1) DANIEL RICKARD b abt 1842 England, married 1st Martha Jane Callaway in Platteville Grant Co WI; divorced by 1880 census; married 2nd Elizabeth Lizzie Killo. Children by Martha were Elizabeth Jane "Libbie" Rickard who married Albert Eustice; Wesley H Rickard who married Ella unknown.
2) JOHN JR RICKARD b abt 1843-45 England; married Ellen Trenary of Platteville; in census until 1910, apparently no children.
I am researching this family as my gg grandmother CORDELIA RICKARD or RICARD b 1830 Cornwall England was married Jan 1850 in Platteville Grant Co WI to WILLIAM HENRY MYERS who was born in Germany; they had one child EMMA born late in 1850, and apparently shortly after her birth they ventured across country to Sacramento CA. WILLIAM HENRY MYERS either died en route, or they were divorced in California. CORDELIA married 2nd to my gg grandfather HENRY "NEW HAMPSHIRE" BROWN June 1, 1857 Sacramento CA. He adopted Emma, and they had two more children, Frank Ricard/Rickard Brown b 1858, and Phebe Cordelia Brown b 1868.
CORDELIA RICKARD MYERS BROWN died 1875 in Sacramento CA, at the age of 45, possibly of consumption. She is buried in the Old Masonic Cemetary in Sacramento.
I suspect that John Rickard and Jane Tresize of Platteville Grant Co WI were either her parents, or her aunt & uncle, as they were the only family of that name living there at the time of her marriage. Cordelia may have had another brother Richard Rickard who was slightly older than she, and who also came out to California.
