Crooks of NY, Wisc., Minnesota (Pipestone) circa 1890

I noticed a Patrick Crook family in Elba during 1850's census. It appears this family moved and ended up in Magnolia Town (ship?), Rock Co., Wiscon during 1860's census, along with more children and FOUR other Crook families. They were enumerated literally one right after the other--so it is likely there were 3 or 4 brothers (married with kids) or close relations. Is anyone familiar with the CROOK families in these two counties? I am looking for a William (Edward) Crook, born 1835 apparently in Burlington, VT, but have seen birth noted in NY. Around 1864 he married Ellen Dugan who was likely living around Winona, Minn. They settle in Buffalo City, Buffalo Co., Wisc, (1870 and 1880 census) and during mid-80's homesteaded in Pipestone Co., Minnesato. One of William's brothers, John, (as the story goes) donated a large piece of farm land to the Milwaukie Archdiocese when he died around 1915-1920--he was living in Watertown, Wisc. (Jefferson or Dodge Co, don't know). Thank you
