LUEHR [Luhr] Family in New Holstein

The 1860 federal census for Calumet County, Wisconsin, where New Holstein is located, includes the following three individuals:
- Luhr, John - New Holstein [page 995]
- Luhr, Margaretha - New Holstein [page 995]
- Luhr, Peter - New Holstein [page 1016]

We are quite sure that John Luhr [u-umlaut], whose name was soon being spelled Luehr, is the father of William Henry Luehr, my great-grandfather. Wm. H. Luehr was born in New Holstein on June 26, 1861, and went on to a distinguished career in education.

Does anyone have any information about these three individuals -- and/or information about the Luhr family in the Schleswig-Holstein area of northern Germany? John Luhr/Luehr listed Holstein as his place of origin when he declared his intent to become an American citizen. Many individuals who settled New Holstein starting in 1848 were from that region of Germany, as many of you know.

I am happy to exchange information with anyone researching the Luhr/Luehr family. Thank you.
