Sally, I know you posted this several months ago, but I took a look for John W Farrington in Ashland and found only one Farrington--Joseph W Farrington who died 24 May 1906--in Ashland. Since he lists himself as J W in the 1900 Census, I wonder if this might be he/yours? Then when I went to the census to see what I'd find, and when I discovered his revered age, I backed up a bit, found possibly daur Mary E living next door to them in 1880/she born same IND as Mother Mary A, and working in the same shop as her sister Cora? Then 1870 reveals a much larger family, before they had set off on their own...or died. I've listed some of the data for you so you can make of it what you will.
Also, it is curiously deceptive that in the 1900 census, Mary A says she has had three children/three living. That is a puzzle, though the censuses are notorious for inaccuracies of all kinds, as in the birthplaces here, probably. Nevertheless, they are a goldmine. Hope this helps a little. Was wondering if some kind soul could tell me when John W Farrington died.
Last seen in 1900 Census WI Ashland County/ Ashland.
Found his widow Mary in 1910 Census.
John born Dec 1821 MI
John had to die between after June 1900 and before April of 1910
Spouse: Mary McQuillan
Children: Cora, Alice and another but do not know the name.
This according to Census data that I found.
Would appreciate any info regarding John W Farrington or his family.
