Venant Lemaire St. Germain - Leon St. Germain

I am looking for any lineage information for Venant Lemaire St. Germain, a fur trader of the Great Lakes in the 1700's. The era also included a Leon St. Germain who married into the Cadotte family. Venant was issued a passport to do business in Grand Portage in 1778, and it is presumed he retired about 1790. Due to French family naming patterns, I believe Venant St. Germain and Leon St. Germain to be possible brothers and related to Francois Bernard St. Germain, my 4th ggf. My great grandfather was named Venant, and his surname was Bernard as his father dropped the St. Germain in 1874. Does anyone know the history of this family? thank you so much in advance for any help you might give me.
