Census data shows a John Burke in 1860 in Dell Prairie Township (age 65), married to Lucinda; also Stephen Burke, 50 years old, married to Emeline. Close by is William age 40, married to Nancy Lewis, John and Stephen both noted as born in New Hampshire. William is probably son of John.
John and Stephen are believed to be sons of Thomas Burk and Eleanor Thurston of Lyme, N.H.
