After I found your Roots post, I went looking again and found this one. (below) It's not accurate, and you deserve the "scoop" on our lineage... You thought:
"I am searching for Gail Allison Whyte who is the daughter of Patrick Whyte (the actor) and Arline (Woodard) Whyte. Gail was born in 1968, Arline was born in 1926/27. I would like to find Gail as my biological father (Raymond Halligan) was Arline's beau for 11 years and he helped to raise Gail until she was 14. "
Actually: Raymond Halligan is my father. My mom (Arline) was married to Patrick (and divorced) LONG before I was born, and while they were married, they adopted a son (my brother, Stefan Whyte). MUCH later, Mom and Ray were together (married by Common Law) and Voila: I was born. Fast forward 10 years: Mom and Ray were divorced. It was not a pretty situation and Mom did not want to use the "Halligan" last name anymore, so she had her name changed legally BACK to Whyte because that was STILL Stefan's last name. I wanted to change my name at the time, but she told me to wait because she didn't want HER decision to influence me or create more distance between me and my father; she wanted me to decide for myself, with a clear head. When I was 17, I changed my name with her approval.
