This is a follow-up to old exchange of Whyte, Russell information. These families have been hard to solidify. What I am (somewhat) sure of is this. William Whyte married Barbara Tussell (can't find the record yet). They appear to have had 10 children between 1794 and 1817 in Paisley: Agnes, Janet, Mary, John, Andrew Russel, Ann Jamieson, Jean, William (1811), Helen and James. All are from records submitted to LDS. I cannot confirm on Scotland's People.
Wills written by Andrew Russel Whyte and wife confirm she was Marion Robertson, daughter of William Robertson. LDS site gives marriage as 31 Dec. 1816 (he would be 14 years old, so I'm dubious). Wills were written in 1825. I cannot, so far, turn up death certs for either of them (likely before civil reg.) but they had a daughter, Margaret Russell Whyte, whose marriage cert (1856) gives her age as 27 (1829). The ages she gives for 1881 and 1891 censuses place birth 1828 or 29.
Margaret's death cert (1901) says father was Andrew Whyte, shawl manufacturer, mother was Marion Whyte (Robertson). Margaret's marriage cert says father was Andrew Russel Whyte, Cotton Manufacturer Dec. mother was Marion Whyte Dec., maid. name Robertson. I'm assuming the "Dec." means both parents were deceased.
