Alexander and Mary McAulay Whyte
Posted by: Mary Brocklebank Date: January 14, 2002 at 14:56:40

Mary McAulay married Alexander Whyte on 21 Jan. 1854 in Paisley, Scotland. They had 3 known children, each born in Paisley (Mary Ann Whyte born 1861, Agnes Whyte born 1864, and Alexander Whyte, born 1871). Our family history: "Mary married a man named Whyte, and they emigrated to Australia with two children. They were never heard from again. Tracing showed the ship had landed safely and they had started inland, but they disappeared."

Looking for possible descendants of the children . . .possibly one or more survived. I am descended from a sister of Mary McAulay, Barbara, who married John McGowan, and their daughter Barbara McGowan married James Brocklebank. Mary McAulay Whyte's sisters are buried in North Grafton, Massachusetts.
