I believe my husband descends from Jeptha's wife's sister, Artemissa. They had another brother named Mirandy Clinton.Dollie might have been named Dolly Adeline? At least, I believe their grandmother was, and Dolly is her namesake.I have a deed from the Superior Court of Walton Co., Ga. that identifies Jeptha and Dolly Whorton, she being one of the heirs of Daniel Malone.
Does this synchronize with what anyone else has?Artemissa md. Alexander Almon/Almand Wallace, in 1830 Newton Co., Ga.--they lived in Ga., then Benton Co., Alabama, then Tallapoosa Co./Talledega Co., Alabama, then to Copiah Co., Ms.Mirandy Clinton Malone-called M.C. or Clinton or Clint...md. Nancy Drummond in 1833 in Gwinnett Co., Ga. (marriage license issued Walton Co., Ga.).
and he later (ca. 1850's) moved to Clarke Co., Arkansas with the Hills, Bridges and Reids from Gwinnett Co., Ga.
I have some Ga.-Whorton-Bridges marriages.
Could Jeptha have been named William Jeptha or Jeptha William?I have a marriage in 1813 in Jasper Co., Ga. of a William Whorton to Dolly Sansom. This is the name of Dolly's grandmother...Dolly Sansom--I have wondered if it is incorrectly recorded.?
