Joanne,
Just one clarification. Bascomb was never a preacher, it was his father, Frank Washington Whorley, who was a part-time preacher. Frank Washington Whorley and his wife are buried in Vinton, Va. This would be Bascomb's parents. What does the W. in W. Bascomb standfor? My dad has said that he remembers hearing my grandfather talk about how smart Bascomb was. That's all I know for now. I'm going to Va., the second week of April and meet with my aunt (Bascomb's niece). She was pretty close with Bascomb from what my dad says. She used to get postcards from him years ago when he was in New Mexico, and she was a little girl. She has most of the family info. I am told.

Mark
