WHORF FAMILY OF PROVINCETOWN AND DESCENDANTS
Posted by: Marcia Briggs (ID *****4947) Date: May 11, 2002 at 04:14:46

I am researching a small family group that began with the marriage of John Whorf and Sarah Ann Wibert in Dorchester in 1753. They settled in Barnstable Co. MA, first in Truro and then Provincetown. Through the next hundred years, most members of this family stayed right in Barnstable Co., living mostly in P-town, with one branch in Truro, another in Wellfleet and another in Boston (merchants selling whale oil and fish). For the most part, the men were mariners. I have assembled a small database for this family, using VR's. census records, cemetery records and some family history. The database is located at rootsweb WorldConnect Family Trees, number :1750550

If you find you connect to this family, I hope you will add to the information (or make corrections!) so that your information might help someone else.
