I found an old article probably from the mid 1960s regarding the descendants of William Andrew Jackson Whitworth( son of John W. Whitworth and Mary Hutchinson) m. in Monroe Co., MS on Oct.24th, 1844 to Sarah Ann Eikner(daughter of Philip Eikner, Sr. and Elizabeth Collins Eikner)
Wm. Andrew Jackson Whitworth and his family moved to Bastrop Co., TX (abt. 30 miles south of Austin) in the year of 1872. He died there around 1885.
1890 surviving children of this couple were listed as
1)Mrs. Nancy A. Alsup, wife of W.R. Alsup of Ellis Co., TX 2) Mrs. Sarah (Sally) A. Hays, wife of D.A. Hays of Ellis Co., TX 3) Mrs. Eliza D. Reed, wife of J.M. Reed, of Johnson Co., AK 4) Mrs. Newell Small, wife of Wiley Small of Grayson Co., TX 5) Mary E. Alsup wife of Lycurgus Alsup of Walker Co., AL 6) Jurian D. Whitworth of Bastrop Co., TX and 7) Charles J. Whitworth of Bastrop Co., TX
The article goes on to say that records indicate that other children of this couple were Amorilla Whitworth, Thomas Whitworth, William Whitworth, Albert Whitworth, Lucinda Whitworth and Jane Whiteworth.
I think these last are likely the children of his brother and were orphaned during the Civil War and are listed with their maternal grandmother Ruth Pearce in 1870 census of Monroe Co., MS. I've been told that Ruth Pearce supported the grandchildren by housekeeping for a Sartor family. Thomas married Elizabeth Easter and is buried in Easter Cemetery at Greenwood Springs, MS. Amorilla married ?Bailey. William walked to TX at age 13 where he remained. I don't have any information about Albert, Lucinda, or Jane. Can anyone help with more information about this family?
I believe these last children to be the half brothers and sisters of my greatgrandfather, Cason Hill. Cason's family has been difficult to follow as he and his wife both died young leaving young children who were raised by his wife's family. I would appreciate any information.
