I am related to you and have lots of info about this family . My great-grandfather is James Henry Whitworth, son of William Whitworth and Isabella Pearce Hill Thomas. Isabella was William's second wife and William was Isabella's third husband. They both had children from all previous marriages. It was truly a yours-mine-and-ours kind of family. The information I have tells of a very tragic and difficult life for these children as William died in the Battle of Chickamauga Sept. 20 1863 and Isabella died c. 1865, leaving all of these children without parents. Rutha Pearce took all of these children in to raise but since this was such a difficult time in the South, life was not easy for these children. James Henry walked to Texas.
