Hello Derek, I have been undertaking research into my Whitton family that moved from Dundee about 1820 but some moved back in about 1860. To do this I have been working on everyone with the surname Whitton mostly up to 1900 so far bit with some up to 2000. This is because I have had to work froma process of elimination to identify my specific family memebers. Everone seems to have used the smae christian names so there quite a number of Williams, Peters, davids for example. I cant guarantee all my reocrds are correct so if I send you data I suggset you check it out in case I have linked up families incorrectly!
Anyway to your query.
I have a record of a Peter Whitton who married a Jean (or Jane) Jack Milne on 30-6-1838 at Craig by Montrose.I have come across 8 children of theirs and they appear in the 1881 census but Peter died shortly there after. I am happy to share what I have with you and can extract data if you give me some clues about specific families.
