Adrienne Whittington
MARSHALL, TX - A celebration of life for Adrienne "Jennie" Whittington will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be pastor Jay Burford, assisted by pastor Harold Coburn. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood, LA.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2009.
Adrienne was born on April 28, 1918 in Dirksland, Netherlands to William and Gertrude Witvliet. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Heritage House Nursing Home, in Marshall, TX at the age of 91.
"Miss Jennie" worked at Gibson Discount Center for many years and then helped her son at his restaurant in Bethany, LA before retiring.
She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of New Hebron Baptist Church, Elysian Fields, TX at the time of her death.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt to all her family who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant brother. Left to cherish her memory is her only child, John Michael Whittington, Sr. and wife, Millicent; sisters, Deanne Harmon and Marie Witvliet; brother, Cornelius Witvliet; grandchildren, John Michael Whittington, Jr., Melanie W. Graham, Jason Whittington and Jacquelyn Whittington; great-grandchild, Dylan Graham; niece, Lisa Johnson.
Serving her, as pallbearers will be John M. Whittington, Jr., Jason Whittington, Dylan Graham, Joey Johnson, Jarrod Johnson and Benny Ray Bridges, Jr.
