I'm looking for information on Rachel Whittington b. abt 1852 who married James Monroe Hutchins on 25 July 1872. I find her in the Illinois census with father and mother John Whitting and Mahalda Whitting in 1860, then in 1870 she shows up in the household of a John A. Owens and wife Mary? She is 18. Does anyone know why she is not living with her Father and family at this time? What happened to Mahalda and does anyone know what her maiden name was and dates, where she came from etc.? I find John Whittington remarried in 1870, if it is the same John, to a Mary E.? Any help will be appreciated as I have only just begun my journey on this family line for my husband. Rachel Whitting and James Monroe Hutchins were his g-g-grandparents via their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Hutchins.
