I am related to the Rosebrough family. My descendent is Orpha Rosebrough, who was born 28 of February,1790 in Borbon Co, Ky, and died 22 of October,1851 in Madison Co, Alabama. She was the wife of Reb David Goodner, born Oct 26, 1788 in Sulivan Co,Tenn, and died the 25 of Oct 1848 in Madison Co, Alabama. Her father was William Rosebrough, of Montgomery Co, Ky. If you have info on Milly, her sister's family I would love to see it. I believe her mother Margaret, may be the dau of Robert McTeer, of Blout Co, Tenn, who married Agnes Martin, the sister of Hugh, Samuel, Alexander Martin, and the dau of Hugh Martin, a very earl settler of New Jersey , who's family settled may years before the Revolution. The children of Robert McTeer, and Agnes were, James, who married Martha Ferguson, Robert, who married Mary Shervill, Martin, Margaret, who married William Sloane, Jennie, who married her cousin , James McTeer, on Aug 7, 1798, Montgomery, John, William, b. June 14, 1780, who married Mary McTeer a cousin, and Mary Bogle. This McTeer family made its first home on the Eastern shores of Virginiaa. I am also related to Hugh McTyre, born circa 1680, and died April 12, 1731 in Middlesex Co, Virginia. He married Catherine George. I think this two gentleman may be related. Hugh's father was William Mctyre, of Scotland b. abt 1660, and died abt. 1710 in Lancaster, Virginia. Hugh's dau Lucretia Mctyre born June 17, 1717, in Middlesex Co, Va., and died 1782. She was the wife of John Greenwood. Maybe this Margrate Sloane, is William's wife. What do you think?I have that Rosebrough was a Scotish name, from , "Ruxburg", one of the oldest castles in Scotland. I have infromation that William's parents came to America from Belfast, Ireland.
