The Levi & Emily Whitted you mention I believe are part of my line. Levi Whitted (b. 20 Nov 1832) and Emily Caroline Powell (b. 16 Apr 1857). Not sure what relation you believe your James to possibly be to Levi...? The only James I have in relation to Levi in my files is a James Y. Whitted (b. 1836) and married a Mary Jane (unknown last name). He served in the Civil War from 1861-1863.
