There were 2 Whittaker/Whitaker in Coleman Co having children-one was your John Morris & Audrey in 1931 and the other was- Marvin W. Whitaker & Eula When. They had a daughter named Francis Evelyn in 9/11/1928 in Coleman Co. I found Marvin W. b. 1891 TX and a Earl M. b. 1886 TX in Coleman Co in 1930 Census.This may be the reason your John was there in 1931.These two were sons of William B Whitaker b.1853 GA in the 1900 census for Hunt Co TX. There is a chance your John Morris Whittaker was also a son. I do not find him in the census. (possibly in WW1)?I did find a John in SS deaths--

JOHN WHITTAKER -born- 25 Dec 1880 died-Jan 1975 (Fort Worth, Tarrant, TX) SS# 457-26-1227 Texas

If this is the right John he was 51 years old in 1931 .
