Giles Whiteaker of Monroe County, Missouri Giles Whiteaker of Claiborne County, Tennessee first married Mary Rice. They had children Joseph, John, Rice W., Elizabeth, Nancy and Rhoda. Rice lived and died in Claiborne County, Tennessee where some of his descendants still live. John (my great great great grandfather) and his family left Claiborne County, Tennessee in 1827 and went to Parke County, Indiana. In 1828 they went on to a part of Vermilion County, Illinois that is now Champaign County. Joseph lived in Harlan County, Kentucky in the 1820’s. He and his family left Harlan County in 1828. Brothers John and Joseph Whiteacre both appear on the same page in the 1830 census for Vermilion County, Illinois. Land records show them having land near each other north of the present town of Champaign, Illinois. About 1834 John Whiteaker and his family moved on to Iowa. Joseph Whiteaker moved to Putnam County, Indiana. Joseph died about 1839. Probate records show that one of Joseph’s son was Giles Whiteaker. Giles Whittaker married Rosa Ann Judah on April 9, 1835 in Floyd County, Indiana. (Giles’ grandmother, Mary Rice, was living in that area at the time.) Giles and Rosa (Rosy) had children William, Joseph, Amos and Frances M.. They appear in the 1840 Boone County, Missouri census as does Rosy’s father Amos Judah. Rosy died young and Giles married Lucinda Williams on November 12, 1845 in Pike County, Illinois. Lucinda died soon after and Giles married Mrs. Sarah Williams on August 1849 in Pike County, Illinois. Giles and Sarah had a son named Levi and appear in the 1850 census for Marion County, Missouri in the town of Hannibal. Hannibal is on the Mississippi River just across from Pike County, Illinois. Jiles/Giles appears in the 1860 Monroe County, Missouri census with children Mary, Levi, Robert, Harvy, John, Murinda but with no wife. Giles marries again prior to 1870 to Eliza St. Johns and they have a son named Thomas. Giles, lastly, marries a Matilda prior to 1880. Giles Whiteaker died in 1882 in Monroe County, Missouri and is buried in the Pleasant Hill cemetery near Paris, Missouri. Notify Administrator about this message?
