Elias F. Presley, born 19 January 1823, became active in Sabine Parish public affairs.
He was the first parish tax assessor, 1843-45, and in 1844 a deputy sheriff as well.
In 1852 he served as secretary of the police jury.
From 1862 to 1864 he was Sabine parish's representative in the State Legislature.
He was parish attorney in 1871.
Elisa F. Presley died on 11 September 1891.
Another Researcher wrote me that this Samuel was Samuel Henry Whittaker md. to Cynthia West. I can't find them in the Census records either. Have a Langton amcestor that md. a Whittaker whose parents lived in Sabine Parish about that time.
