I think My family descends from Jonathan Whittaker of Accrington brother of the James you mention. I know he had a son James Barry Whittaker, who had four children Albert, Mary and James and ruth but she died at a young age. Albert married Margery. Mary Married Oliver They have a daughter Pat who married Peter they have 2 children who have families in the states. James Married Beryl Hoy. James and Beryl had 4 children Rosalind John Dianna and Robert. Rosalind Married Kerion McGuirk they have 3 children Anna Tom and James. John Married Gloria they have 1 son David. Dianna married Glenn Waite and have 3 children Jennifer (me) Stephanie and Rebecca. And Robert married Angela and they have 2 children Mark and Claire. I hope this helps. I would love to hear any information you have on my grandfather's side of the family. All I know is that My great great grandfather Johnathon was a photographer, I found out last night as I was with my uncle. My grandfather James died very recently. He was 92.
My Grandparents lived in Crosby most of their lives.
