Elizabeth Hewitt AKA Elizabeth Whitt Possibility (Sound Like Names)
Posted by: Wayne Witt Bates (ID *****7673) Date: September 01, 2008 at 04:53:50

SOUND A LIKE NAMES - TAZEWELL CO. TAXPAYERS BEFORE 1820

SEEK CONFIRMATION
The suspicion is that Elizabeth Hewitt and
Elizabeth Whitt were one and the same.

SUSPICION BASED UPON THE FACT THAT THERE WERE NO SURNAME
HEWITT IN TAZEWELL CO. IN CENSUS OF 1810 AND 1820

TAZEWELL CO., TAX PAYERS BEFORE 1820
Elizabeth Hewitt for years
1813, 1815, 1816 and then dropped off

Elizabeth Whitt beginning in
1817

And then Elizabth Whitt was Head of Household in census for
1820, 1830, and 1840 in Tazewell

In 1850, she was in household of adopted son
James Harvey Whitt of Tazewell Co., VA

In 1860, she was in household of adopted son
James Harvey Whitt of Morgan Co., KY

RENEWED INTEREST
Posting prompted by renewed interest in seeking name
of husband of Elizabeth Whitt b about 1775, who
first appeared on Tazewell Co., VA Taxpayer List in
1817.
