I am a descendent of John Phillips and Sarah Brannock through Sarah Phillips and James Gibson. I have been on a census documentation binge recently. I extracted the following information relating to the daughters Mary & Margaret.

!1850 FEDERAL CENSUS: Jefferson County, Indiana (Ancestry.com)
John Miller, male, age 49, born North Carolina; Mary Miller, female, age 43, born Kentucky; Ellizebeth Miller, female, age 18, born Indiana; Dulcina Miller, female, age 17, born Indiana; Mary M. Miller, female, age 13, born Indiana; John M. Miller, male, age 7, born Indiana; Sarah Miller, female, age 6, born Indiana; Benj. F. Miller, male, age 3, born Indiana; Margaret Whitsit, female, age 39, born Kentucky. (Family 304,Graham Township, Page 246, Enumerated 4 Oct 1850)

!1860 FEDERAL CENSUS: Jefferson County, Indiana (Ancestry.com)
Mary Miller, female, age 53, born Kentucky; Mary M. Miller, female, age 23, born Indiana; John M. Miller, male, age 17, born Indiana; Sarah A. Miller, female, age 15, born Indiana; Margaret Whitsitt, female, age 49, born Kentucky. (Family 799,Graham Township, Page 111-112, Enumerated 20 July 1860)

!1870 FEDERAL CENSUS: Jefferson County, Indiana (Ancestry.com)
Mary Miller, female, age 63, born Kentucky; John Miller, male, age 28, born Indiana; Margaret Whitsitt, female, age 59, born Kentucky. (Family 28,Graham Township, Page 4, Enumerated 11 July 1870)

You've made several references to the Whitsett-Phillips Bible, do you know where a person can see/obtains photo copies of the bible? I was able to confirm on one of my other lines that information was recorded after the fact by consulting the bible publication date. Some entries had to have been recorded in that bible 10-15 years after they occurred.

Lastly I would be careful researching this William Whitsett in Lafayette county MO. The 1850 census index at Ancestry has 2 people with this name in the county within 1 year of each other (born 1805 & 1806) both born in Kentucky.
