Dear Holly,
Don't know if I can help. My gggrandfather was named Samuel S.Whitsett. Census records from TN and KY show him to be born in NC about 1818, migrated to Tn(Bedford Co.) in his youth, married Elvarie (Springer?) Aug. 24, 1843, had five children, two boys, three girls. The family moved to western KY(Lyon Co.) after the civil war. He died in KY about 1885. I have been searching for his parents for years without success. The marriage you wrote of,1806, is the right time frame to be the parents of my Samuel. I have more info on my Samuel's family if you believe we are linked. Will gladly share.
Tom Whitsett
